Kommentar: Olive Schreiner (1855-1920) was a British South African author born in the Cape Colony (present day Lesotho). She is known for writing fiction and non fiction from South Africa in defense of the rights of women and people barred from political power because of their ethnicity. This book is a novel, highly satirical and critical of the Imperial politics of Cecil John Rhodes. The frontispiece shows the lynching of three men and was supressed from all later editions until 1974.
