Kommentar: Olive Schreiner (1855-1920) was a British South African author born in the Cape Colony (present day Lesotho). She is known for writing fiction and non fiction in defense of the rights of women and ethnic minorities in South Africa. This book is a novel, highly satirical and critical of the Imperial politics of Cecil John Rhodes. The frontispiece shows the lynching of three men and was supressed from all later editions until 1974.
