Kommentar: Førsteutgave av den viktigste boken om kokaplantens historie og bruksområder. William Golden Mortimer (1854-1933) var en amerikansk lege og forfatter. Han er kjent for denne boken om plantens ulike egenskaper. Boken fortsetter å være aktuell ved at den endelig ble oversatt til spansk i 2019. Den var da en del av arbeidet til den peruvianske avkriminaliserings-aktivisten Baldomero Cáceres Santa María. Mortimers standpunkt er tydelig i kapitteloverskrifter som “Cocaine is not Coca”, “Similarity of Conditions in Tea, Coffee and Coca Culture – Superiority of Coca for General Use.” osv.
